KERRY MUHLESTEIN

Kerry is a Professor of Ancient Scripture and Ancient Near Eastern Studies. He earned his B.S. in Psychology with a Hebrew minor and his M.A. in Ancient Near Eastern Studies from BYU, followed by a Ph.D. in Egyptology from UCLA, where he was named Graduate Student of the Year. Before joining BYU, he taught at BYU–Hawaii and now directs the BYU Egypt Excavation Project.


He has been recognized as one of the nation’s top professors by the Princeton Review and served as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford. Kerry has published 11 books and over 60 peer-reviewed articles. He and his wife, Julianne, have six children and one grandchild, and have lived in Jerusalem during multiple teaching appointments. He is also the creator and host of The Scriptures Are Real podcast.
